A parklet is a small urban park in the space of underused, or arguably misused, parallel on-street parking. In many cases, parklets reclaim the space with temporary, reversible, and inexpensive interventions such as planters, benches, café tables and chairs, or sculpture. Many become permanent/seasonal, well-used, and welcomed fixtures in the community.

San Francisco’s ‘Pavement to Parks’ is leading this initiative and providing a model to cities around the world who want to reclaim excessive street space and turn them into public spaces that prioritize people, not cars.
