What is Park_ingOttawa?

Park_ingOttawa is a crowdsourced project that asks for your ideas about what

Ottawa has 3,938 paid on-street parking spaces.
The average on-street parking space is 2.75×7.25m (9′x24′).
That’s a lot of streetscape dedicated to parked cars.

Surely we can think of things more interesting, more productive, more friendly, more inviting, more sustainable, more beautiful, more useful, more anything than a parked car.

To launch the project, 20 park(ing) signs were posted in early September around Central Ottawa next to paid on-street parking spaces. The next step is up to you, Ottawa.

How can you participate?

You are asked to contribute your ideas by writing or drawing on the signs or by tweeting ideas or photos to @Park_ingOttawa.

You are also invited to download, print, and post the Park_ingOttawa sign in your neighbourhood and help spread the project across Ottawa.

Sign locations are added to the public Park_ingOttawa Google map so please let us know if and where you are posting.

Thank you all for your interest, your participation, and your ideas!
